When one first thinks of the Holidays, millions of thoughts flood their mind as sugar plums, snow, pine-tree smells, and eggnog dance across their eyes. And who could forget the favorite candy cane treat? However, I have a slightly different take on this sugary food that is association with Christmas. For some reason, I can never suck on a candy cane without drawing blood. Apparently my poor, fragile tongue is too sensitive for it, and it always manages to cut me. I never learn, and each year I end up with several burning wounds in my mouth, and grow increasingly pessimistic.
Why is such a dangerous item associated with holiday spirit and joy?
I have seen many a child sharpen their candy cane to a brutal sharp point and stab others.
Something just doesn't seem quite right here...
